No-meeting culture is a trap

Recently I have been seeing a lot of chat about no-meeting culture, promoting async comms via Slack as the Gen Z vision as the future of work. This is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard for not only career advancement, but this could put general societal cohesion in jeopardy.
  1. Creating alignment is not just about getting everyone in a room to agree, it’s about building professional connections with people you will be working with for possibly the rest of your career. Async-only robs you of the opportunity to build these relationships.
  2. Many use async culture as a way to avoid professional comms development.
  3. People suck at writing.
  4. It’s impossible to understand the vibe.
  5. People are much better at lying in written form.
  6. A huge percentage of marriages are to co-workers.
  7. Async culture will make us much more vulnerable to the golden age of deepfake scams.
  8. If you don’t like to waste time reading banter on text chat, you will probably miss something important.
